The cycle of life

A reflection on life, death, and nature's course.

A multimedia approach to the phrase "Memento Mori". My subject were frogs, and my aim was to make them symbols for a person accepting their natural fate: they are born, grow, love, and then they die. The initial project was set in a distant future where, due to pollution, biodiversity has been lost, but humans continue to tell fables and myths with animals as the protagonists. The full display included a dance I choreographed, some photographs, more illustrations, and a journal entrance, but the ones below were my favorite elements that came out of this project.

Stop motion animation telling the story of a frog using only natural resources, and a plastic eye. My intention was to subtly allude to the integration of microplastics in ecosystems as a result to human pollution. Despite this, the life of a frog catrries on like it has for centuries. Digital animation mockup to plan how the stop motion will look like. Clicking it will lead to the video.

Illustration on the topic of the cycle of life and the inevitably of death. Initially it was meant to be screenprinted, but it didn't work out as planned.

The cover and first page of a children's book I made featuring a cast of frog outcasts, on the topic of beauty, trends, and the changing of generations that leads to new ideas and norms.
